The Story Behind Caring for Tomorrow

Caring for Tomorrow, formerly Caring to Remember, began with an idea shared over coffee – and a deeply personal connection to Alzheimer’s disease.

In 2015, Brock Nigg and Andrea Tallent Spivak sat together in a coffee shop and began imagining what could happen if they brought the real estate community together to support those affected by Alzheimer’s and dementia. For Brock, the cause was especially personal: his wife, Heidi Lohrfink Nigg’s, father had passed away from Alzheimer’s. ForAndrea, at the time her passion for the cause had been shaped by witnessing countless families experience what she came to know as one of the longest goodbyes – the devastating journey of dementia and its impact on individuals and those who love and care for them. Together, they recognized the profound impact of the disease on families and the opportunity to harness the strength of their community to create meaningful change.

They partnered with Geraldine and Kaci Szabo to bring that vision to life, launching the first Caring to Remember benefit in 2015. What began as a conversation became a shared commitment and ultimately grew into a powerful community of supporters united by a common purpose: to create change for individuals and families impacted by Alzheimer’s and related dementias.

Over the past ten years, that community has continued to grow, building an influential Executive Committee of real estate leaders, all personally touched by Alzheimer’s and related dementias. Along the way, the event has also celebrated a dynamic and distinguished group of honorees deeply dedicated to the cause, including:

  • Jody Durst, The Durst Organization
  • Meghann Gill, SL Green
  • Patrick Dolan, The Durst Organization
  • Frances Graham, Newmark
  • Linda Foggie, Scotiabank
  • Robert Cuzzi, VDA
  • Glenn O’Brien, Author
  • Carolina Tejada, Silverstein
  • Antonina Caruso, JRM

Together, this extraordinary community has helped raise more than $3 million and has transformed Caring forTomorrow into a beloved annual gathering bringing together leaders from the real estate community and beyond to raise critical funds, build awareness, and support CaringKind’s vital work.

While the event has grown tremendously, its heart remains the same. It started with a personal connection, a conversation over coffee, and a collective determination to make a difference.

As we celebrate ten years, we look not only at how far we’ve come, but toward what is possible next.

Today, we are Caring for Tomorrowbuilding a future where no one faces dementia alone, and where change is not only possible, but within reach.

What began over coffee became a community. Ten years later, that community is stronger than ever and together, we are continuing to create change for everyone affected by Alzheimer’s and related dementias.
